"The album is a poignant snapshot of the state of electronic music as of 2020, inspired by the weight of hardcore subcultures being rediscovered, subconscious pop culture references, reflections on economic, political, and social structures in a hopeless search for meaningful communitarian experiences, glittering social anxiety, dystopian paranoia, and much much more." (Paynomindtous)
"adaa's album is a multifaceted, dense complete piece, using processed dance floor idioms, sharp granular sound design and some very unusual sample selection ranging from euphoric trance to bratty pop punk/sad boys vocals. It’s wild af and we hope you will like it as much as we do." (Mixmag)
“adaa’s new album fuses euphoric dance music arpeggios and vocal snippets that were wrenched from the pop-punk autotune-emo-sad-boy continuum at an advanced point of synthesis." (PW-Magazine)
In OK IM REAL I THINK (GEN041), ADAA (fka adammmmmmmmmmmm) plays a high-stakes game of far-reaching density, acceleration and saturation. Instantly blasting off, this album is a showcase in extreme kick drum technology, a detuned synth stab pandaemonium, a granular fission chamber full of dense clicking sounds, seemingly originating from some digital slime dimension. This notion of saturation is not just in reference to the in-your-face full spectrum sound approach, a conceptual saturation procedure is notably at play too, via euphoric dance music arpeggios and vocal snippets snatched somewhere on an advanced synthesis point of the pop punk-autotune emo-sad boy continuum. This way, a high velocity sense of conceptual concentration is obtained, with extreme stretching modes resulting in chipmunk chatterings and source material skrewed beyond all decent reason. But don't let these suggestions of multiplicity and apparent incongruence create the illusion this is just a particularly goofy and extreme collage exercise: relentless energy and coherent construction lift this up to the level of an alluring complete entity.
// adaa about the album
"ok im real i think is an affectively charged tangle of sounds that fabulates fragmented worlds, reminding us that the individual is a product of the collective. The intimate energy manifested through the natural-physical-virtual-digital materialization of sound finds its way into your ears, skull, body and mind. adaa invites you to decompose into its eclectic, collective nature and dissociate so that we can heal together. We are closer than we think, close your eyes, and let these tracks massage you until you decay."
// galen tipton about the cover design
“The piece depicts a figure baptized in collective chaos, simultaneously emerging from and dissolving into this raw emotional energy. I wanted to capture the maximalism and drama of the project and how overwhelming yet grounded it is; a vat of healing acid for the listener to sink into and find peace in being one with the storm.”
