In a gaming environment (optionally VR-ready and tested on Oculus Rift DK2) developed by Reaper Death Seal Corporation, a celestial avatar escapes Earth’s orbit into a sandbox-like planetary system. This platonic dimension of forms, shapes and textures sets up a curious visual counterpoint to the musical motives of Dane Law’s r.bit. Whether this galaxy is a symbolic key or just a place of graceful shapes – it’s a transposition into a place no longer subject to gravity, where there is no up or down – where the beginning is no longer the beginning and the end no longer the end.

about

On r.bit, Dane Law puts an ambient techno king under the microscope, chopping, skrewing, bending and melting Orbit’s masterpieces into crystallized 90ies grooves, emerging eccojams and tireless supersaws.
These tracks supposedly originate as dubs taken from an old tape found in an abandoned Vauxhall Astra on the A635 by Saddleworth Moor evoking techno soundtracks set to walks in the hills and delirious drives over the Moors to West Yorkshire searching for parties, a sort of extraterrestrial rural transmission captured forever on tape.
In these collected tracks the champion of the mixing board’s brainchildren are processed and rearranged into shameless muzak vectors, its synth climaxes distilled into a sort of euphoric torture zone, it’s rhythmic foundations re-sketched and reassessed into full-blown groove prisons.
